100 milliseconds

is enough for people to form judgements of trustworthiness and competence from a face, and longer looks mostly confirm them.

Willis & Todorov (2006), Psychological Science

Halo effect

A meta-analysis of over 900 studies found people judged as more attractive are also judged, and treated, more positively in many other ways.

Langlois et al. (2000), Psychological Bulletin

We cite these because they explain why small, visible changes get noticed, not because anyone's worth depends on their looks.

A new approach

Not a score.
A plan.

Rating apps give you a number and nothing to do with it. Clinics look at the one feature you came in about and sell you their procedure. We measure your whole face and work out which changes are worth your time and money, in order.

The old way

    Fixate on one feature

  2. Step 2

Built around you

Taking into account your…

01

Your goals

What you want to change, and what you would rather keep.

02

Your budget

Every step is costed, and the plan stays within what you can spend.

03

Your time

Five minutes a day or thirty: the routine fits the time you have.

04

Your skin and health

Sensitive skin, pregnancy, medication and conditions change what is suitable.

05

Your limits

No makeup, no beard, no supplements: anything you won’t do stays out.

What you get

You will learn…

01

Your measurements

20 proportions and angles, each next to its reference.

02

How each feature reads

What is working, and what draws attention, area by area.

03

Your face shape

And the haircut, frames and facial hair that balance it.

04

What to change first

The three steps with the biggest visible difference for you.

05

Why each step works

With an honest rating of the evidence behind it.

Your plan

Simply follow your plan.
See your face change.

Your plan is drawn from a library of 42 non-surgical methods, each written with what it costs, how often, when you can expect a difference, and how good the evidence is.

  1. Stage 1

    Health

Skin, eyes, teeth and hair that look rested and healthy. This is where most of the visible change comes from.

  2. Stage 2

    Proportions & framing

Haircut, facial hair and frames chosen to balance your face shape.

  3. Stage 3

    Balance

Leaning your look toward the masculine or feminine impression you want, without overdoing it.

  4. Stage 4

    Individual features

Targeted work on brows, eyes, lips and skin concerns.

  5. Stage 5

    Your style

Keeping what makes your face yours, and showing it well.

  6. Stage 6

    Maintenance

The routine that keeps results, and the check-ins that track them.

Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen

Wear SPF 30 or higher on your face every morning, all year.

Last step of your morning routine, two finger-lengths for face and neck. Choose a fluid or gel texture if you dislike the feel of sunscreen; tinted versions also even out tone.

Strong evidence. In a four-year randomised trial, adults using daily sunscreen showed no detectable increase in skin ageing, unlike the comparison group. It also underpins every pigmentation treatment.

What we measure

Your face, in numbers
you can understand

Each measurement is shown next to the proportion it is usually compared with, and explained in plain words. They are reference points, not a verdict: plenty of striking faces sit outside every one of them.

Proportions

  • Facial thirds
  • Lower-face balance
  • Face shape
  • Width-to-height ratio

Eyes & brows

  • Canthal tilt
  • Eye spacing (rule of fifths)
  • Eye openness
  • Brow height

Nose, lips & jaw

  • Nose width
  • Mouth width
  • Lip proportion
  • Jaw-to-cheekbone width

Symmetry & smile

  • Brow, eye and mouth balance
  • Chin position
  • Smile width
  • Smile evenness

And what geometry can't measure

Skin texture, tone and breakouts · Under-eyes · Brow and lash density · Teeth and lips · Hair, hairline and facial hair · Posture in profile. These are read from your photos, first by an AI assistant and then by the person reviewing your analysis, who confirms or corrects every finding.

Inside a report

Every number explained.
Every step costed.

This is a slice of a real report layout, filled in with the measurements of the model photo above.

Sample report

Measurements

Face shape: Oval

Middle third to lower third

0.92

Your middle and lower thirds are close to the classical balance.

Reference 0.90 to 1.10. Classical facial thirds put these two heights roughly equal (about 1.0).

Within reference

Canthal tilt

+4.2°

Your eye tilt is in the neutral-to-upward range.

Reference 0.0° to +8.0°. A neutral to slightly upward tilt (about 0 to 8 degrees) is the range most often described as youthful.

Within reference

Eye spacing

1.18

Your eyes are set slightly wide. Brows that start a little closer to the nose can balance this.

Reference 0.88 to 1.15. The "rule of fifths" puts the gap between the eyes at about one eye width (1.0).

Above reference

Lower to upper lip

1.74

Your lip proportion is in the commonly cited range.

Reference 1.20 to 2.00. A lower lip somewhat fuller than the upper (about 1.6) is the most commonly cited proportion.

Within reference

Jaw to cheekbone width

0.83

Used to describe your face shape.

Descriptive. Higher values read as a squarer, more angular lower face; lower values as a tapered, softer one.

Your plan

01Start hereGrooming

A haircut chosen for your face shape

Take this report to a good barber or stylist and ask for a cut that balances your face shape.

Your report names your face shape. Long faces: keep height down and add width at the sides; fringes help. Round faces: height on top, tighter sides. Square: soft texture. Lower face long relative to midface: avoid very flat tops. Show them two or three reference photos of people with your hair type.

Visible change, no study needed. Hair changes the perceived length and width of the face immediately. It is the single largest non-surgical change in most plans.
02Grooming

Clean, straight, full brows

Tidy your brows without reshaping them: remove strays and any hair between them, keep the natural straight line.

Tweeze only below the brow and between them. Trim long hairs with small scissors after brushing up. A clear brow gel keeps them in place. If unsure, one professional tidy-up and then maintain at home.

Visible change, no study needed. Lower, straighter, fuller brows read as more masculine in perception studies; small grooming changes are very visible.

Technology

The technology behind
your plan

Computer vision for the measurements, a rules engine for the plan, an AI assistant for the first draft, and a person for the final word.

Precise landmarking

A face-landmark model maps 478 points on your face, on your own device, and checks each photo for angle, light and focus as you take it.

Built around you

Your goals, budget, time, skin and limits decide which steps are eligible. Nothing you said you won’t do makes it in.

An honest library

Every method is rated for evidence: strong, moderate, limited, or simply a visible change. We say when the honest answer is “not much”.

Reviewed by a person

AI drafts; a person decides. Every finding, step and word is checked and edited before you see it.

Your numbers

What is Looksmax Plan?

A measured analysis of your face and a non-surgical plan to make the most of it. Software takes the measurements, an AI assistant drafts observations, and a person reviews everything. You can book a one-to-one consultation where we go through it all with you on Zoom, or the live Looks & Style Workshop (one for men, one for women) with your own personal looks improvement plan.

Is this a rating out of ten?

No. You will not get an attractiveness score or be compared with anyone. You get measurements, what each one means, and changes worth making, in the order that makes the most difference for you.

Who is it for?

Adults (18 and over) of any gender who want an honest, practical read on their face. If thoughts about your appearance take up a lot of your day or stop you doing things, please talk to your doctor first: that is common and very treatable, and a plan like this is not the right starting point.

Your questions

Will analysing my face
make me insecure?

It is a fair question, and for most people the answer is the opposite. If thoughts about your appearance already take up a lot of your day, please talk to your doctor first.

You learn what is actually there.

Most worries come from guessing. Measurements and a careful read replace the guessing with facts, including everything that is already working.

You find out what can change.

Some things change with a haircut or a routine; some don’t, and aren’t worth your energy. Knowing which is which is a relief.

You stay in control.

No scores and no comparisons with anyone. You decide what to do, at your pace, within your budget.
